“The thing I kept trying to fix in my job eventually became my work.”
NOW: TURNING HIS NATURAL STRENGTH INTO A SOFTWARE COMPANYWhen I worked in sales, there were parts of the job I genuinely enjoyed. Talking to people, understanding businesses and working with clients gave me energy. But I hated everything around it: building lead lists, checking data, updating CRM systems and entering the same information over and over again.
I noticed that I was constantly asking the same question: how can this be done smarter? I would look for tools, change processes and eventually started building small solutions myself. At the time, I never saw that as a potential career. I just thought I was trying to make my job less frustrating.
Chapter One helped me see that this wasn't just a frustration. It was a pattern. The thing I naturally kept coming back to was understanding how a business works, finding where time and effort were being wasted, and figuring out a better way to do it.
Once I understood that, I stopped thinking about what completely different career I should pursue. Instead, I started asking how I could build work around something I was already naturally good at and genuinely enjoyed.
Today, that's exactly what I do. With Linea, I help businesses understand and improve their processes, then build technology around the way they actually work.
What used to be the thing I was constantly trying to improve inside my job has become the work I now get to build for myself.
